Note that the game cannot be played yet. I plan to release it in the first 3 months of 2025, though that may still change. Still, I'm very excited to announce the move to Steam! During my time away, I've been setting up Steam networking for the game, so players can host and join lobbies through Steam, as well as access a server browser and leaderboards for those who reach the deepest levels!

Now, let me explain why I haven't updated the game since version 0.26, even though I said that 0.3 would be released two months ago. What happened? Well, I realized there was no point in continuing updates on itch.io and decided to focus on developing the game instead of managing frequent updates.

The Dark Descent has come a long way. As of today, the game has been in development for 10 months, worked on primarily by just me (with some help from my friends on art and music), and I'm incredibly proud of what it has become.

Here's a small recap of some changes: In this screenshot, you can see the new elevator design, which I think is a major improvement.

And here, you can see a new map, enemy, and items!

Thank you to everyone who played the game while it was still on itch.io. The move to Steam has been a big step for me, as this is my first project of this scale, and I’ve really grown attached to it. The future is bright, but the descent is dark.
